The last of the big events at the golf course are this month. Sept.

The Blaine Lake branch of Wapiti Regional Library held a children's Summer Fun Program for seven weeks throughout the summer. Attendance varied between eight to 32 local children.

The Borden Friendship Club held a barbecue for their Aug. 31 supper and celebration of birthdays. The club provided the burgers, buns and wieners and Clive Wensley supplied the birthday cake.

The Mennonite Church of God in Christ held their annual Vacation Bible School for children ages five through twelve, July 18 to 22. Class 1 was taught by Joni Kuepfer from Oklahoma, with Shelly Thiessen as her assistant.

Kari and Mary Carpentier drove to Thompson, Man., where they boarded the train, traveling over taiga and tundra to the seaport of Churchill, Man. on Hudson Bay. They visited Koral Carpentier who is working there.

Congratulations to Robert McBain and Cassie Rudishyn of Waseca on the birth of their fourth child, a girl, born Aug. 27. Both of the school buses travelling out of Waseca have "first time" passengers.

Tanned and taller students were welcomed back with joy and laughter as they returned to classes at Ratushniak Elementary School in Maidstone last week.

The halls and walls haven't changed much over the summer but the start of a new school year fills those halls with new faces and hopes.

I'm back again after a wonderful summer. We can't complain about our weather this year as it was mostly lovely, warm and sunny. Hopefully September will be nice too, so the farmers can get their harvesting done.

As fall approaches we are experiencing much cooler evenings and there is a noticeable difference in the length of the days. Corn has at last begun to ripen in the garden. It just needed the warmer weather we are presently enjoying.
