The Blaine Lake branch of Wapiti Regional Library held a children's Summer Fun Program for seven weeks throughout the summer.
Attendance varied between eight to 32 local children.
Co-ordinator Gillian Pearson and student assistant Rachel Robertson coordinated the activities for the event, pre-planning a new theme for each week. Pearson coordinated songs, stories, crafts and games to coincide with the chosen theme.
The Summer Fun Program held a windup barbecue Aug. 26. The children prepared and presented a half-hour program of their weeks of activities and performed the different songs that they had learned. Parents and caregivers were invited to enjoy the afternoon filled with entertainment by the children, musical entertainment by Ed Bajak on guitar and a balloon man. It was a successful closure to a fun summer event at the local public library.
The Blaine Lake public library offers a large selection of reading material, Internet access, cake pan rental and CD and DVD loans.
The library is open from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. There are many other services provided by the public library, such as Internet access, computer printing and photocopying.
