Honoured Royal Lady Dorthea Hocher began the Oct. 10 meeting of the St. Walburg Royal Purple by wishing all a Happy Thanksgiving. Terry Krzak's talent for decorating in the fall theme spruced up the tables nicely.

Loonie pot split seven ways

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Sept. 30 with Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. The card game 500 was played Oct. 3 with Jean Stewart and Margaret MacEachern providing lunch.

Service held at rural church

We are enjoying the fall weather even though we are experiencing some below zero temperatures at night. The geese are still around feeding on the stubble fields and many of the leaves are still making a colourful landscape.

Nov. 11 service planned

Due to a lack of members able to attend an Oct. 4 meeting of the Maidstone Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 142 was not held. Members are asked to mark their calendars for the next meeting, Nov. 1. This will be the last meeting before the Nov.

Much to be thankful for this fall

(From Oct. 12) Lil and Milt McMillan had Thanksgiving supper with Darlene and Gary Robb. Last week, Lil McMillan was to Edmonton, Alta. for an eye appointment. She said there was a lot of crop out around Vegreville and Vermilion, Alta.

Fundraiser draws a crowd

A good crowd made Saturday evening's fundraiser for Pine Island Suites a great success. Among the many items donated for auction by auctioneers from Kramer Auctions and others was the 10,000th birdhouse made by Bruce McFadyen.

This past week saw a change of venue for the Meota exercise facility. This work out gym has been in operation for a few years and has been a great addition for quite a few folks in the community.
