To the Editor: After reading about all the awards The Weyburn Review and Weyburn This Week received from the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association (SWNA), I felt I should congratulate you on behalf of the many readers in the southeast Saskatchewa

Let's talk newspapers again. This column was inspired by articles by Edmund Lee and Nicholas Kulish, published in one of the Sunday Business editions of the New Your Times, brought to my attention by Gerry Fichtemann.

It might not have had the same impact that the initial announcement of the Centennial Cup had in December 2019, but it was still an important and exciting news release nonetheless.

Luis Benuel wrote: 鈥淎ge is something that doesn't matter, unless you are a cheese.鈥� Now that鈥檚 encouraging. If you鈥檙e neither brie or an edam, age doesn鈥檛 matter that much. Having said that, numbers do.

For months now, Premier Scott Moe has been telling us we are near the COVID-19 finish line. It is optimism that鈥檚 been appreciated 鈥� and, often, much needed 鈥� in this seemingly endless fight.

We鈥檙e in our happy place now. Greenhouses are open. Cue the music because this is indeed the most wonderful time of the year. For my husband. Normally I would wander through the greenhouses with him.

The Alida community extends sincere sympathy to the Kennedy family on the death of their father Hugh (late of Regina, formally of Nottingham) on May 8 at the age of 89 years.

Congratulations聽to William Husband who won the Program Assistant Award from Skate Sask. for his hard work and dedication to the sport! Sympathy to family and friends of Art Lamontagne of Thompson, MB. He passed away on May 5th at the age of 81 years.

Another week has come and gone and we are enjoying more summer-like weather, which finds a few people more outside enjoying the courtyard, watching the tulips and daffodils bloom and seeing the leaves opening up almost before our eyes.
