Bird enthusiasts of Weyburn spread out across the area surrounding the community on Dec. 18 to participate in the annual Christmas bird count.

As we consider what the New Year will bring us in terms of opportunities, events or people we'll meet or hear about, looking at where we've come from is often valuable as a way to see where we're going.

Nominations are open for the annual Parent/Grandparent of the Year Awards. The Family will be hosting the Bernard Kot Parent/Grandparent of the Year Awards and Chocolate Decadence Evening on February 12, 2011 at McKenna Hall.

January is a very busy month at the Weyburn Public Library. They are hosting three different book clubs, "High Fidelity," "Water for Elephants" and "A Fire Upon the Deep." Copies of each book have been set aside and registration is required.

Winners of the 2010 YouthBiz E-Show were announced, recently. A total of $2,150 in prize money was awarded to students in southeast Saskatchewan for their efforts in developing unique business ideas and creating virtual tradeshow booths.

Traditions are great things. They add a sense of stability and provide a point of focus for future reference. As well, it is especially nice when it is a tradition you really enjoy.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its annual Christmas party on December 15 at the Wheatland Senior Centre. Following a turkey dinner, the Club Championship was held.
