Read-A-Ton challenge at library

The Weyburn Public Library is hosting a month-long reading contest for children. April l is the beginning of the Read-A-Ton Challenge and Children's Book Week. The contest is for children up to 14 years old and runs from April 1 to May 7.

April l is the beginning of the Read-A-Ton Challenge and Children's Book Week. The contest is for children up to 14 years old and runs from April 1 to May 7.

For each pound of books a child checks out from the library and reads, they will receive a ticket for a chance to win one of three prize packages. The youth with the largest overall weight in books read at the end of the contest will also receive a prize.

The library has a variety of children's programs planned for April. Thursday afternoon Kid's Korner programs include making a dazzling dragonfly and crystal caterpillar craft on April 1, a cooking class on April 14, and an Easter card and paper basket craft on April 21.

Several Easter Week activities will also take place. On Tuesday, April 26 there will be an Easter egg hunt; on Wednesday, April 27 children can decorate egg-shaped cookies; on Thursday, April 28 terra cotta bunny crafts will be made; and on Friday, April 29 the library will feature a movie and popcorn for children.

The library will be closed on April 18 and 22 to 24.
