Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn will hold their annual general meeting on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the BBBS office, which is located downstairs at the Metro Center, 64 Third Street.

Braving the cold weather, the 5th Weyburn Scouts group is hosting a fundraiser this Saturday, January 3 at the former Sarcan location. Scouts will be on hand that day to collect empty bottles, cans and juice boxes from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

It was fun to get to know her and a privilege to work with her. Marlene Gaudry was one of those personalities with an infectious smile and an ability to get things done by causing as few ripples as possible.

It’s all over for another year. Christmas, that is. Accompanied by a sense of mixed relief and sadness, for me the first week in January is busy with the work of packing away decorations and storing what’s left of decadent goodies in the freezer.
