The opening event of the Saskatchewan High School Rodeo Association season will take place at the rodeo grounds at Wood Mountain Regional Park on August 19-20.

The latest Cattle on Feed Report was released on Friday July 21, by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the July 1 inventory numbers. It indicated that the number of cattle placed on feed in June 2017 was 1.

Harvest is underway for some producers in the south, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported for the week of July 25. Less than one per cent of the provincial crop has been combined, while slightly more than one per cent is ready to straight-cut.

The Assiniboia Livestock Auction held its regular cull cow and bull sale on August 2 with 235 head sold. This number is down significantly from the 250 sold at the previous sale on July 21 and from the 431 sold on July 5.

The Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia welcomed Susan Wilson as its new general manager in late July. She replaces Kaylee Beck. Wilson comes from Coronach and has been living in Assiniboia for the past year.

Two athletes from Assiniboia and one from Bengough joined 322 other athletes on Team Saskatchewan to compete in the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg and Brandon.

The JustinSane Barbicar Club of Mossbank made a donation to Assiniboia鈥檚 new rink project on August 1.

The Moose Jaw Little League girls softball district All Star Sask Team won the bronze medal at the Junior League Canadian Championships in Calgary on July 24-27.
