As both businesses and private citizens continue to look for alternative sources of energy to help the environment, wind continues to generate a back and forth discussion as to its efficacy as an energy solution.

A career in agriculture can prove richly rewarding. While it’s common to envision overalls and tractors when imagining careers in agriculture, the opportunities to work in the agriculture industry stretch beyond the farm and into the corporate world.

The Wheatland Express Safety Train will bring a unique educational experience to Saskatchewan. As of Wednesday, May 9, children and the general public will have a hands-on opportunity to ride and explore a train designed for rail safety education.

Saskatchewan police agencies reminded people that they can turn over their unwanted firearms without penalty — regardless of how they were acquired — during an amnesty period.

The Assiniboia Skating Club (ASC) held their annual Carnival on March 23, showcasing routines performed by its 45 skaters, ranging in age from 3 to 16 years. This year’s theme was Sun, Sand & Sea.

Another curling season for the Assiniboia and District Curling Club ended on March 27. The date also marked an end to Harvey Hysuik’s tenure as Curling Club Manager. Harvey is pictured at right.

Local football player Derek Beaubien was chosen by Team Canada to represent Canada on the U16 West All Star Team at the world championship. The world championship will be held January 12 - 19, 2019 at the AT &T stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Men’s Annual Bonspiel was held March 23 – 25 at the Assiniboia Curling Club to wrap up the 2018 curling season. With 24 teams entered for this year’s bonspiel, many teams traveled from out-of-town to participate in this year’s event.

Safety Day 2018 was held at the Prince of Wales Centre in Assiniboia on March 15.
