The Assiniboine Beef and Multi 4-H Club hosted its achievement day on June 18. The day featured the achievements of club members and their animal project. It was hosted at the farm of Nathan and Megan Maier of Preeceville.

Top academic and athlete students were acknowledged for their achievements at the Preeceville High School awards day on June 20.

The Sturgis sports grounds were alive with action when eager fans took to the grounds for the Sports and Rodeo weekend on June 24 and 25. The weekend kicked off with a pancake breakfast at the Sturgis READ Club.

Second wind? Maybe third or fourth, but that didn’t stop a group of 55-plus athletes as they gathered at the Melville track-and-field area on June 6.

The fourth annual Farmer’s Filthy 5 event was held in Stenen on June 3 when 148 runners registered to run in the one, three or five-kilometre races.

The Sturgis Station House Museum opened for another season on June 2 with a welcoming tea. Sarah Brown is the museum curator for the season. A summer student is scheduled to be hired.

The Prairie Garden Greenhouse in Ketchen will be under new ownership and at a new location when it opens in the 2018 season. The greenhouse will be renamed Hazel Blooms, in its new location.

The Preeceville School, in conjunction with the Preeceville wildlife club, hosted a fish release party at Lady Lake on June 10. The school had participated in the Fish in Schools program and successful raised 55 rainbow trout from the egg stage.
