Weyburn grads celebrate with parade

The Class of 2024 celebrated their grad day with a parade on Saturday afternoon, which travelled east on Prairie Avenue and west on Bison Avenue to avoid the car show on downtown. The ceremonies were held in the morning, and the grand march followed the parade.

The annual show-and-shine in Weyburn was put on by the Soo Line Cruisers on Saturday, with over 200 antique, vintage and classic cars, trucks and even some snowmobiles, with non-profit groups offering barbecues, along live music in the downtown core.

The Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park held their season opening day on Sunday, with pony rides, a barbecue and face-painting, along with carnival games and visits to the animals. The Houligan Acres farm provided a horse and a pony for rides, and many young families were on hand to see the animals and enjoy the sunny weather.

A petting zoo and fundraiser hot dog sale was held at the Weyburn Pet Valu store on Saturday, with funds raised for the Weyburn Humane Society from the hot dogs, and by a group of girls from St. Michael School who sold baking and lemonade. Houligan Acres farm provided animals for the petting zoo.

The Weyburn Motocross Association held a day of practices Saturday, and a day of races on Sunday, at the Raymond Giroux Memorial track south of Weyburn, with all age levels and categories taking part.

The second "Stronger Together" community potluck event was held on Saturday at the Knox Hall, and was considered a success, with virtually no leftovers. There was a table with free loaves of bread and eggs, plus a prize care package people could put their names in for, and a bingo game to win a small prize, along with a number of live performers throughout the event.
