WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 76 calls for service during the week of August 29 to September 4, resulting in a total of 19 charges. Of the charges, 13 were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada and six under the Traffic Safety Act. Of the criminal code charges, six of the 13 charges relate to individuals who either failed to appear in court as required, or failed to comply with a condition of their release.
On the weekend, police responded to separate reports of assault resulting in two individuals 小蓝视频 arrested and charged. One of the individuals was released with an upcoming court date and the other was remanded in custody to appear in court.
A local restaurant reported that a group of individuals ordered an expensive meal and then left without paying. Charges are pending further investigation.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in a parking lot. The pedestrian attended the Weyburn General hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention.
On Wednesday, two youths reported to police that another youth had pulled a knife on them. Investigation into the matter revealed the report was unfounded. The youths were warned of the consequences of making false reports.
During patrol, officers found an individual who appeared to be passed out in the driver seat of his vehicle. Police checked on the individual and found him to be sober and not in any medical distress. No charges resulted.
Police were notified of a missing elderly male who had walked out of a care home. Police assisted in locating the male who was returned to the care home without the need for medical attention.
Throughout the week, police received several complaints related to dogs barking or not 小蓝视频 contained within their yards. One occurrence included an individual 小蓝视频 bitten by a dog. Police would like to remind the public that there are municipal bylaws that state dogs are not allowed to be loose, bark excessively, or chase/attack anybody. Bylaw infractions can result in fines or court appearances.
Multiple items found by Weyburn residents during the week were turned in to the Weyburn Police Service. Anyone who lost an item can check with the police to see if it has been turned in.
Officers also responded to a variety of other calls including alarms, domestic disturbances, suspicious persons or vehicles, mental health concerns, requests to check on an individual’s well小蓝视频, harassing communications, and calls relating to animals or bylaw concerns.
