WEYBURN – The top title of Weyburn’s Business of the Year went to MegaDry Disaster Restoration Inc., which also won the New or Expanded Business Award at the WEYBEX Awards on Friday evening.
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce’s business awards gala was held at McKenna Hall, live for the first time since 2018, with co-hosts Jeff Richards and Glenn Rogers at the mike.
The parent company of MegaDry, Vortex Plumbing, had also won as the New/Expanded Business and Business of the Year in 2018, under the ownership of Ryan and Patty Skjerdal.
The award for new/expanded business is awarded to a business established or expanded in the last three years, demonstrating exceptional performance with the creation of new marketing and/or jobs.
In the category of Golden Service Award, Maurer’s Meats was named the winner, under the ownership of Yvonne Wagner.
This award recognizes a local business that consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service and/or hospitality.
Taking the Community Involvement Award was Farm Credit Canada’s Weyburn office.
This award is given to the business that demonstrates outstanding performance in its contribution to recreation, amateur sports, arts and culture, education, charitable groups and business development or promotion of the city.
Bill Vollbrecht of A&B Concrete Ltd. received the Business Leader of the Year.
This award goes to an individual who exemplifies the qualities of a business visionary, and has shown outstanding success in business or industry through the development of a new process, product or service, and for meaningful contributions to the local business community.
The Business Hall of Fame had two inductees this year, Miller Well Servicing and Weimer’s Hometown.
This award recognizes pioneer and cornerstone businesses and business leaders which have demonstrated excellence over an extended period of time, and whose business has contributed to the economic well-СÀ¶ÊÓƵ of Weyburn and area.
The Business of the Year is chosen from the winner of the New/Expanded Business, Golden Service and Community Involvement categories.
