Fundraiser events planned for Weyburn's Wheatland Seniors Centre

Wheatland is looking to do repairs and renos to their building, and are raising funds for this project

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Wheatland Seniors Centre is planning for a craft and bake sale, coming up on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To come and sell items at the sale, the price is $20 per table. For table bookings, call Marlene at 306-891-5230, or call Wheatland at 306-842-3503.

The Wheatland centre will also be selling a beef-on-a-bun on Nov. 26, with a price of $8 per person. The lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The month-end supper will be on Friday, Nov. 25, featuring pork cutlets. Phone the centre or come by in person to put your name on the list to attend. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Nov. 23, before noon.

The results of the senior centre’s activities from Oct. 24-28 are as follows.

In bridge on Friday, Shirley Sparks won first, Mildred Sandiford came in second, and Basil Holyer placed third.

For spades, first went to Basil Holyer; second was Theresa Istace, and third was Marg Schultz.

In hi-lo whist, first and second place were tied, with Basil Holyer and Marlene Szczecinski tied with Gladys Lokken and Sharon Eggum; in third was Willa-Mae Donald and Yvonne Von Hagen; and in fourth, Connie and Ray Boucher.

For canasta, Marg Warnke won first; Trina Maas came second; Kay Bachman placed third; Joan Gregory came in fourth; and Ileen Yates placed fifth.

In Kaiser, first place went to Shirley Sparks and Rose Levesque; second was Coral Schindel and Mildred Sandiford; and third was Basil Holyer and Kelly Glaspey.

Thursday crib winners were Rose Levesque and Shirley Sparks in first; Phyllis Lindskog and Chris Herlick placed second; Connie and Ray Boucher came in third; Gerry Thompson and Emily Stadler were fourth.

Bingo is held every Thursday at 1 p.m. Slider cards are available for 50 cents each.

Membership dues for 2023 are $30 for the year.
