Students of Giselle’s ShowTyme Dance Studio in Assiniboia, with owner and teacher Giselle Wilson, had a successful competition season. In fact, 2016-2017 has been a good year for the dance studio which marked its 10th anniversary in Assiniboia.

Travis Sinclair, technician at Nelson GM in Assiniboia, really is the best at his job. Sinclair was recognized on June 9 at General Motors for placing top in his automotive technician class.

Kassidy Williamson, a Grade 12 student at Mankota School, has earned a position on the Saskatchewan National High School rodeo team and will be travelling with fellow teammates to Gillette, Wyoming on July 16-22.

A week in Ottawa learning about federal politics was an incredible experience for one Assiniboia Composite High School student.

Saskatchewan producers now have 81 per cent of the 2017 crop in the ground, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported in its crop report for the week of May 23. But cool and wet weather was delaying seeding and herbicide applications for many producers.

A total of 3,964 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan for the week of May 26, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported. This number continues the downward slide from 4,633 head sold the previous week, but up from 3,130 head the same week a year ago.

The 22nd annual Assiniboia Spring Fever Lotto was drawn on May 28. The lottery proceeds will be used to construct a new skating arena for the town of Assiniboia. To date, it has raised $4,000,000 for the rink project.
