Weyburn police charge man, 31, with eight firearm offences

The Weyburn Police Service, in conjunction and with the assistance of the RCMP, executed a search warrant on a Weyburn residence on Friday, and a man faces eight firearm-related charges.

Weyburn police arrested a man, 31, and charged him with eight firearms-related offences after executing a search warrant on Friday.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service received 88 calls for service during the week of Dec. 11 to 17, resulting in a total of 21 charges. Of the charges, 17 were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, three under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA), and one under the Summary Offences Procedure Act (SOPA). Only two of the week’s criminal charges were in relation to individuals who either failed to comply with a condition of their release or attend court when required to do so.

The Weyburn Police Service, in conjunction and with the assistance of the RCMP, executed a search warrant on a Weyburn residence on Friday, resulting in several firearms related offences. A 31-year-old male is facing eight firearm offences, including three charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and-or device, possessing an altered or defaced firearm, improper storage, and trafficking a weapon. More charges are pending as several other items were seized from the residence during the execution of the search warrant. The male has been remanded in custody with an upcoming court date.

Of note, in Weyburn court on Dec. 18th, a 32-year-old male from Richmond, B.C., was sentenced to nearly five years in custody. Raymond Chan was sentenced to 44 months in relation to drug charges, resulting from an extensive investigation by the Weyburn Police Service over a period of time in 2022.

Early Monday morning, a traffic stop resulted in an adult male 小蓝视频 charged with impaired driving. The officer noted the driver showed signs of impairment and further investigation revealed impairment by a drug. The driver was charged accordingly and released with an upcoming court date. The vehicle was also impounded for a period of 30 days.

Also on Monday, a traffic stop conducted in the early evening resulted in an adult female receiving a three-day driving suspension after 小蓝视频 tested for the presence of cannabis. The vehicle was also impounded for the same length of time.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a report of an adult male who appeared to be passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Officers arrived and awoke the male who showed signs of impairment but indicated he was diabetic. EMS attended and examined the male to ensure he was okay and did not require any medical attention. Further investigation revealed the male was impaired by drug and he was charged accordingly. The vehicle was also impounded for a period of 30 days.

The Weyburn Police also responded to a variety of other calls including alarms, domestic disturbances, suspicious persons or vehicles, mental health concerns, requests to check on an individual’s well-小蓝视频, harassing communications, and calls relating to animals, parking, or other bylaw concerns.
