The Preeceville Novice Pats hockey team was on a roll, recording another tournament win. The Pats defeated both Canora novice teams to win the Kamsack novice home tournament on January 23.

The Preeceville Midget Pats defeated Prairie Storm, which plays out of Balgonie, in the first game of two-game, total-point series in the Pats’ run for the provincial title on January 22. The win was in front of a packed arena.

The Etomamie Valley Riders Club hosted is annual awards supper at the READ Club in Sturgis on January 22. Jacquie Olson, president of the club, was the master of ceremonies for the awards. Four seasons catering by Sharon Draper catered the meal.

The Laird Gervais rink of Crystal Lake won the Preeceville Curling Club's 200-plus bonspiel that ran from January 11 to 14. Delmar Pasiechnuk, Ken Bazansky and Jan Gervais were the other team members.

Among the 16 successful applicants of TD Bank Financial Group and The Health Foundation fall education awards for 2015, which were announced last week, were several from this area.
