October 11 has been declared by the United Nations as International Day of the Girl. This day is celebrated world-wide to recognize girls and young women as powerful voices of change in their families, communities and nations.

In September, Saskatchewan鈥檚 unemployment rate was 5.1 per cent (seasonally adjusted), marking two consecutive years the province has had the lowest unemployment rate among the provinces. The national unemployment rate in September stood at 7.

Having lost the final home game on Thursday, the Canora Cougars senior foot-ball team has only one game left in the season. The Cougars are to travel to Raymore on Friday.
