Next week, the Canora Medical Clinic and therapies staff will transition into the re-pur-posed space created in the Canora Hospital for the Canora Health and Wellness Centre.
The renovations at the Canora Hospital are almost complete and the move will take place from October 14-19, according to a release from Sunrise Health Region.
鈥淚 expect that our move-in week will be very busy,鈥 said Mary-Jean Vogel, the Sun-rise primary health care manager. 鈥淲e would appreciate the co-operation of our community to only book essential appointments during this time.鈥
The last day of appointments at the Canora Medical Clinic鈥檚 downtown location will be on October 13. Clients with appointments between October 14-19 will be seen at a temporary location in the ECG room at the Canora Hospital.
The move will not affect emergency, laboratory or in-patient services at the hospital and these services will continue uninterrupted. After October 19, all appointments will be seen at the new Canora Health and Wellness Centre location in the Canora Hospital. The phone number to book an appointment will not change.
As part of the move announcement made last week, it was also announced that Dr. Hamed Afshari will be joining the primary health care team at the new location and will begin seeing patients on October 21. Other members of the primary health care team are Dr. Mala Singh, Dr. Victor Obiora, and Lorri Dennis (nurse practitioner)
The Canora Health and Wellness Centre is not a walk in clinic, states the release. Clients are asked to call ahead to make an appointment. Same day, evening and weekend appointments may be accommodated.
鈥淲e will be holding tours of the new space during our grand opening event on November 19,鈥 said Vogel. 鈥淲e are very excited for the co-location of the team. This will make such a difference for our clients and our health care team.鈥
