Making appointments to various committees and organizations was the focus of Canora town council’s first meeting of the year on January 5. For the standing committees (portfolios), the first person named is the chairperson.

Among the 16 successful applicants of TD Bank Financial Group and The Health Foundation fall education awards for 2015, which were announced last week, were several from this area.

Bob Kolodziejski, standing in as skip for the vacationing Terry Dennis, led the Canora rink in defeating two Kamsack teams on January 5 to capture top place in the Duck Mountain Super League (DMSL) of men’s curling.

January 8 January 7 – The five candidates vying for a seat on Canora town council in a byelection agreed to participate in the first candidates’ forum Canora was to see in many years.

The Canora Cougars’ senior boys came in second in their home tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Cougars defeated Norquay 66-49 in the opening game of the eight-team tournament.
