Woman facing charges in Little Black Bear First Nation death

LITTLE BLACK BEAR FIRST NATION - Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes and File Hills Police Service are investigating a suspicious death on Little Black Bear First Nation.

On Dec. 18 at approximately 10:30 a.m., File Hills Police Service received a report of an injured individual at a residence on Little Black Bear First Nation.

File Hills Police Service responded and located an injured adult male, who was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 20-year-old Devin Bellegarde from Little Black Bear First Nation. His family has been notified.

Initial investigation by File Hills Police Service determined the male’s death was suspicious in nature. An adult female was arrested at the scene and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes was engaged to continue the investigation.

As a result of continued investigation, 20-year-old Danielle Panipekeesick from Little Black Bear First Nation is charged with one count, manslaughter.

Panipekeesick appeared in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on Dec. 19.
