Katherine Thomas, an administrative assistant for the village of Climax, is one such person. In 2019, she made the bold move from Vancouver, B.C. to Climax, seeking a more affordable lifestyle. According to Katherine, Climax offers a unique combination of qualities that make it an attractive option.
"It's a close-knit community where you can get to know your neighbours, raise a family, and find great work opportunities," she says. "And the housing prices are incredible!"
Unlike some villages that are struggling to grow, Climax is thriving. Katherine attributes this to the community's ability to grow its population, which in turn has led to an increase in population. The village has seen significant growth since the 2021 census, with an expected population of around 160 or more in 2024.

There's always something going on, whether it's an event at the local hall, a game at the rink, or a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. The village also boasts a border health medical centre and summer camping facilities, which attract visitors from across the border.
Katherine sums it up best: "Our village is one square kilometre of fun." She's fallen in love with the community and feels a sense of belonging that she never experienced in the city.

"They give everyone a chance, and it's not uncommon to be asked about your new home and become friends with your neighbours."
