Weyburn's Soo Theatre ready for demolition on Tuesday

The neon-light marquee for Weyburn's Soo Theatre was removed late Monday afternoon-early evening, and the building was set for demolition to begin on Tuesday morning by Adair's Demolition. Third Street's northbound lane between Souris and Coteau Avenues has been closed to through traffic until the demo is done. The theatre, which has been closed since 2018, will be removed to make way for a new two-screen theatre

The skies over Weyburn were brightly lit up on Sunday night with the Northern Lights, stretching from west to east in a wide ribbon overhead. The phenomenon was reported over a wide area around the province, caused by solar activities in the sun as waves of energy pass through Earth's atmosphere.

Weyburn dance studio holds first DeFeet Dance Challenge

Weyburn's De Tricky Feet Dance Studio held their first dance competition, the DeFeet Dance Challenge, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon at the Cugnet Centre, with dancers coming from eight other studios to join the Weyburn dancers. There were adjudicated dances in various categories, and on Sunday afternoon there was a dance-off with cash prizes, with the top group routines competing in each age division.

Minor hockey teams from the U9, U11, U13 and U15 age levels have been taking part in a 3-on-3 tournament through the past week at Crescent Point Place. New season begins for Weyburn field lacrosse teams

A new season began for U15 and U17 Weyburn Rattlers field lacrosse teams on Friday evening, as Weyburn Lacrosse held practice for the teams at Weyburn's Credit Union Spark Centre. Coach Chuck Hignett ran the players through a number of drills for the 90-minute practice. They will attend two weekend tournaments this year, with one 小蓝视频 Sask. Lacrosse Field Provincials.

The Houligan Acres farm, located just east of Weyburn, hosted families for a time of Easter egg-gathering, and petting of baby goats, chicks, bunnies and guinea pigs along with horse rides. Each family were also able to have a photo taken with the Easter bunny during their visit to the farm.

The Weyburn Public Library hosted 30 families for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning, with some fun Easter crafts afterward in the Allie Griffin auditorium. There were some 300 eggs and prizes hidden all around the library for families to find.

Weyburn church marks 'Stations of the Cross' around city

Parishioners from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church marked the "Stations of the Cross" in a journey around Weyburn on Good Friday morning, modelled on the Via Dolorosa journey marking the journey Jesus took in Jerusalem, carrying the cross to where he was crucified. The journey in Weyburn took the group around the city, stopping for reflection and prayer at key points, including the Court House, Hospital, fair grounds, downtown and City Hall before ending back at the church.
