As most of my readers already know, these have been several trying weeks for our family. Two weeks ago, my husband had a sudden and debilitating stroke.

I have spent July 1 in some interesting places over the years; a community park in Mission, B.C., on the interstate in Nevada, a lake in Alberta, an aquarium in southern California, but primarily in the towns or cities where I was living at the time.

Saskatchewan has soared past one million COVID-19 vaccine doses. This is great news — literally, the shot in the arm we all want.

Another week of life in the villa saw cooler temperatures and the scare of frost, but I never heard of any.

Sympathy to the family and friends of the late Merle Coleman, who passed away on June 5 at the Virden Health Centre in Manitoba. She was 93 years old and the daughter of the late Matt and Elizabeth Hamilton.

Hope all dads had a great Father’s Day on June 20. Members of the Alida Recreation Board were busy preparing the swimming pool for the upcoming swimming season.

Cheers: Cheers to the organizers of the bubble parade for the Estevan Comprehensive School’s Class of 2021. It was a great way to celebrate them, and the kids looked great in their finest clothes.

The editor: Two-hundred fifteen children were buried in a graveyard beside a residential school in Kamloops, B.C. They varied in ages; one as young as three. They lived. They all had names. They all had hopes and dreams.

It hasn’t been an easy few weeks for Canada. We should be talking about the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, the declining number of cases, whether the vaccine is СÀ¶ÊÓƵ administered fast enough, and when the Canada-U.S.
