WEYBURN - The Weyburn Wrestling Club laid the groundwork for a new season with a learn-to-wrestle clinic held on Saturday at the Elgin gym, with several youth of a range of ages coming out.
Coaches Greg Kiraly and Ray Leroux, along with a couple of other volunteers, worked with the kids as they showed them some basic take-down techniques in wrestling as well as having some fun games mixed in.
The club will hold registration day on Monday, Sept. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Elgin gym, and the season will officially get underway on Oct. 15.
The freshie and peewee divisions will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m.
The bantam to juvenile age divisions will practice on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The Weyburn club will be one of the first clubs to hold their home tournament, at the Weyburn Comp, with the date yet to be finalized with the school.
