WEYBURN – Several Weyburn residents were the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee medals, in a presentation by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty on Thursday in Regina.
The recipients included Mayor Marcel Roy, Jerry and Orlanda Mainil, Norm and Shirley Mondor, Colleen Weimer, Joanne Bannatyne-Cugnet, Dan Cugnet, fire fighter Harold Whiteoak and Brent Allin.
The medal is 小蓝视频 presented as part of the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s reign as Queen of Canada.
The medals commemorating Canada’s monarchs were first awarded for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887, followed by her Diamond Jubilee medal 10 years later.
The Silver Jubilee of King George V was marked in 1935 with commemorative medals, and the Platinum Jubilee medals for Queen Elizabeth were established this year.
The medal is a tangible way for Saskatchewan to honour the queen, and recognize the significant contributions and achievements of Saskatchewan residents.
