WEYBURN - The Weyburn Police Service received 104 calls for service during the period of October 25-31, 2021, including an incident of arson at a home on Halloween.

City police responded to a report of a fire on Sunday, where it was found that a house and vehicle were intentionally set on fire by Molotov cocktails. Homeowners put the fire out quickly before extensive damage could occur. The investigation is active and ongoing at this time.

Police responded to a report of a domestic on Oct. 26, and after an investigation olice charged an adult male with assault and uttering threats. The male will appear in court on a later date.

Police responded to a 911 call from a distraught female caller on Wednesday. Police attended and found the female was assaulted by an adult male. The male was arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats, and choking. He was released to appear in court at a later day.

City police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Wednesday, just before the intersection of 18th Street and First Avenue. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and one driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act with failing to yield. There were no injuries.

An adult female reported to police that she was assaulted by an adult male on Thursday. Police investigated and an adult male was later found and arrested for assault, uttering threats and choking. The male will appear in court on a later date.

Police responded to a business for a report of an intoxicated adult male on Friday. Upon arrival, it was determined the male was also in medical distress and with the assistance of EMS was transported to the hospital for care.

Police stopped a vehicle for littering on Sunday. At the time of the traffic stop the driver was suspected to be impaired by alcohol. An adult female was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the police station where she failed a breath test. She was charged with over 80mgs of alcohol in her blood, and impaired driving along with resisting arrest. She was released for a court date in the future.
