Weyburn police charge woman for drugs, B&E and theft

Weyburn police responded to over 100 calls during May 1-7, with 22 charges laid, 12 under the Criminal Code.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service experienced another busy week responding to 100 calls during the week of May 1-7, resulting in 22 charges. Of the charges, 12 were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, eight under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA), and one each under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the City of Weyburn Bylaws. Six of the criminal charges were in relation to individuals who either failed to appear in court as required or failed to comply with a condition of their release.

Two separate but related incidents occurring over the weekend resulted in an adult female facing several charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and four counts of failing to comply with conditions of her release. The female was also charged with break, enter and theft. These incidents are still under investigation and further charges are likely.

With several reports of vehicles 小蓝视频 rummaged through and items 小蓝视频 taken, residents are again reminded to remove any valuables and lock their vehicles. “Car-diggings” and bicycle thefts are common issues during the summer months and preventative measures to secure your property will help reduce these incidents.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute late Monday afternoon which resulted in an adult male 小蓝视频 charged with assault. The male was arrested and released with an upcoming court date.

On Thursday morning, officers responding to a 911 hang-up call arrested and charged an adult male who was breaching a condition of his release. Voices could be heard in the background by the 911 operator but the caller hung up before the operator could get any details and attempts to reconnect with the caller were unsuccessful. Officers attended the location associated to the caller’s phone number and found the male who was breaching his release conditions.

Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a reported physical altercation at a residence. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female outside of the residence who appeared to have facial injuries. The female was taken to the Weyburn General Hospital where she was treated and released later the same day. Further investigation resulted in an adult male 小蓝视频 charged with assault causing bodily harm. The male was arrested and released on conditions with an upcoming court date.

The Weyburn Police Service also responded to a variety of other calls including alarms, domestic disturbances, suspicious persons or vehicles, mental health concerns, requests to check on an individual’s well小蓝视频, harassing communications, and calls relating to animals, parking, or other bylaw concerns.
