Tourism Ambassador enjoys chance to #ExploreWeyburn

High school student Teresa Weger has been enjoying learning about Weyburn and visiting different sites.

WEYBURN – High school student Teresa Weger has an awesome summer job, 小蓝视频 the Tourism Ambassador for Weyburn Tourism, exploring the sites and attractions of the city from June to August.

“It’s a lot of fun, because I get to go out and see all the cool things in Weyburn, and spread the word about these things in Weyburn that people don’t necessarily know about,” said Teresa.

As an example of what she might see, Teresa toured through the Soo Line Historical Museum on Friday afternoon, the first time she had ever been in the building.

She found the Charlie Wilson Silver Collection, the world’s largest private collection, amazing, and said she was surprised at just how big it was.

“I think you could definitely spend a little time in here. You’d need time to catch all that you’d see in the museum,” she said.

Teresa initially saw an ad on Facebook from Weyburn Tourism about this eight-week position, and reached out to find out what it entailed.

Asked how she figures out where to explore or go shoot photos at around the city, Teresa indicated people at the Tourism office have been helpful, along with suggestions sent in from the public.

In addition, Weyburn Tourism began their summer contest, #ExploreWeyburn, with a bingo card entry form, and she’s been out exploring those possibilities and posting them on social media to let residents know what they could be visiting.

Teresa is also producing guides about the various venues and sites to see around Weyburn to post on the Weyburn Tourism website, along with photos and videos to post on Instagram and Facebook.

She is going into her Grade 12 year at the Weyburn Comprehensive School, and said she may possibly consider going to school for something in the marketing field after graduation.

“This job has kind of been an inspiration for me to do that,” she said, noting the staff at the office, Niki Nagy and executive director Monica Osborn, have been helping her learn about marketing as well.
