Special programs, activities set for December at Weyburn library

The Weyburn Public Library has a range of activities and programs for all ages in December.

WEYBURN – Activities from learning how to cook to making crafts, to gaming and learning how to solve crime mysteries, will be available at the Weyburn Public Library through the month of December.

The month kicks off on Dec. 1 with the annual Cards, Crafts and Carols event, starting at 6 p.m., open to all families and individuals to come and create crafts and Christmas cards.

Cooking classes will be offered for every age group, starting with children aged six to eight on Tuesday, Dec. 7; children aged nine to 12 on Friday, Dec. 10 (both at 4 p.m.); for teens (aged 13 to 17) on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.; and then for adults, on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.

Crafts for kids will be held on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., starting on Dec. 14 for children aged six to 12, where kids will learn how to make yarn-wrapped stars.

The STEM think-tank for six to 12 will be held on Thursdays, Dec. 2 and 16 at 4 p.m. The December project is to build a pinball machine out of cardboard.

For tweens (aged 10 to 14), a CSI session will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m., when participants can learn how good of a detective they are.

A Tween Tech program for improving technology skills will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6:30, and the project will be for a circuit scribe. This program will also be offered for teenagers on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., and adults can enjoy the program on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

Also for teens, a cricut mug decorating class will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.

A video game tournament will be held for teens on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m., where players can go on Xbox One games to try for video game champ of the month.

A Secret Santa session will be held for teens on Monday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. Teens are invited to bring a friend, and all the supplies will be provided to make a gift.

The Book Club for December will be discussing the book, “Everything Here is Beautiful” by Mira Lee, on Monday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The book coming up in January will be “Becoming” by Michelle Obama, on Jan. 17.
