Regina police bust gun-trafficker after long-term investigation

A 10-month investigation into firearm trafficking by RCMP, Regina and Calgary police has led to one arrest

One Regina man is facing eleven firearms charges related to the investigation by police.

REGINA — The Regina Police Service has presented charges stemming from a 10-month investigation into gun and drug trafficking that includes both Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The Integrated Crime Reduction Team, which included Regina police and RCMP members, partnered with the Calgary Police Service in the cross-province operation, which began in December 2021. Investigators were focused on the trafficking of restricted and non-restricted firearms, in this portion of the investigation.

Charges were laid on Feb. 1 against a 26-year-old Regina man, in relation to the investigation.

He is facing ten counts of weapons trafficking, and one sound of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He made his first appearance on these charges in provincial court on Feb. 2.
