REGINA — Police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old Regina man in connection to a fatal hit and run over the weekend, but continue to investigate the incident.
At approximately 11 p.m. on Sept. 17, police responded to reports of a vehicular hit and run in the north central area of Regina.
The victim, identified only as a 67-year-old Regina woman, was reportedly crossing the street when struck by a vehicle heading north on Broad Street and turning west onto 6th Avenue.
The vehicle, which police did not describe, fled the scene following the collision. She was transported to hospital by EMS, but later succumbed to her injuries.
Following investigation, Regina police located the suspect vehicle and arrested one individual they allege is the driver on Monday.
Tyrell Hume, of Regina, has been charged with failure to stop after a collision resulting in death, in connection with the incident.
Investigation is ongoing, said a statement from police. The family of the victim have been contacted and offered support services, but police will not be releasing further information about the victim.
Hume made his first appearance in court on Monday evening.
