After year of negotiations, Estevan Meter Services Ltd., has purchased Lampman-based Acutech Systems Ltd. The purchase was part of a deal between the two southeast oilpatch companies. The deal officially began on Oct. 31, 2015.
Acutech鈥檚 nine employees will be joining the 35 members of staff working for Estevan Meter. Estevan Meter provides instrumentation, controls, combustion, technical sales and services to the upstream and mid-stream segments of the petroleum industry.
鈥淎 big portion of this is, it will give us access to the tank gauging market within the oilfield,鈥 said Estevan Meter president and CEO Doug Martens. 鈥淓stevan Meter has provided all of the other instrumentation services to the oilfield, and there have been a couple of other competitors that have done a lot of the tank gauging instrumentation. Those two competitors would be Titan Technologies and Acutech Systems.鈥
Acutech Systems was founded in the 1980s, and offered electronic tank gauging for the oil patch, particularly a tank gauging system developed by the company鈥檚 founder and owner, John Grimes.
Grimes developed the TPZ tank gauging and alarm callout system, a system that helps reduce spills and lower environmental risk.聽
