BIENFAIT - A GoFundMe campaign is underway to support Bienfait resident Crystal Ronyk’s fight against cancer.

As of Friday morning, it had raised $10,530 of its $70,000 goal, with 73 donors. The goal is $70,000.

“When it comes to overcoming life’s many obstacles, while maintaining a strong faith and a positive outlook … Crystal Ronyk is a shining example,” states the campaign page.

After losing her husband to cancer, Ronyk was left to raise three teenage children on her own. Only a few years later, she was forced to face the loss of her only sister Marie to the same disease.

The GoFundMe page states that Ronyk has shown an “unwavering” faith, spirit and pure determination to forge ahead in life, with her belief that “God has a plan.”

A few weeks ago a pain in her abdomen initiated an emergency hospital visit, where she underwent a variety of tests and procedures that revealed cancer cells. Now she finds herself on her own healing journey, while continuing to maintain her positive outlook and faith.

Because of how cancer has touched her life in the past, Ronyk is no stranger to the medical system and the treatments offered in Canada. After a great deal of prayer and thoroughly researching all options available, she believes that the path to her own recovery is within the walls of the Oasis Medical Institute in Tijuana, Mexico.

Her journey of holistic healing and conventional medical treatments will begin when she boards a plane for down south.

“Crystal believes in the power of prayer and faith, that she has been put on this path for a reason. She is grateful for the many friends and co-workers who have reached out to offer help and support.”

The cost of the treatment is $70,000.
