SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - Power outages have struck several communities in southeast Saskatchewan on March 14.
According to a message on X sent out by SaskPower at 2:15 p.m., crews have been dispatched and are determining the cause and repair time for an outage reported in Oxbow, Carlyle, Glen Ewen, Carnduff, Carievale, Gainsborough, Storthoaks, Alida, Frobisher and all surrounding rural areas.
An update message at 5:11 p.m. said crews were working to repair damaged equipment and estimate power to be restored at approximately 10 p.m. in those communities.
In an email to SaskToday, SaskPower said the outage is affecting about 900 customers.
There have also been multiple outages in Estevan during the afternoon. According to a message on X at 2:58 p.m., SaskPower said crews have been dispatched and are determining the cause and repair time for the outage reported in Estevan, Bienfait, Roche Percee and surrounding rural areas.
A follow-up message at 4:26 p.m. said crews are working to repair damaged equipment by the weather but are unable to provide a restoration time for Lampman, Steelman and surrounding rural areas north and east of Estevan.
Electricity to Estevan, North Portal, Bienfait, Roche Percee has been restored.
SaskPower says the outage is affecting about 5,600 customers.
The Crown corporation says the outages were most likely due to transmission lines affected by the winds.
