The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior girls' basketball team welcomed teams from throughout the province for the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association's 5A regional playdowns.
Ten teams competed at the tournament, which was held at the ECS gymnasium March 14 and 15.
The host Elecs were the fourth-seeded team, and opened the tournament with a 61-45 victory over fifth-rank Yorkton Regional High School on March 14 to advance to the semifinal the following day. They lost 85-51 to top-ranked Swift Current, ending the Elecs' tournament.
Swift Current knocked off No. 2 Prince Albert Carlton 84-38 in the final. Both teams advanced to the provincial Hoopla tournament.
The ECS senior boys were in North Battleford for their 5A regional tournament. Seeded ninth, they opened the tournament with a 73-61 loss to No. 8 Lloydminster. Their season wrapped up in a 106-79 loss to Prince Albert St. Mary's – the tournament's fourth-ranked team.
