Vera Gorgchuck (nee Krywchuk): January 31, 1929 – February 26, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vera Gorgchuck at the age of 96.  Born on a homestead near St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, Vera was a woman of strength, kindness, and deep love for her family.  She lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.

Vera was the proud mother of seven children: Jane (Linus) Benz, Liz (Doug) Morris, Vera (Bernie) Oster, Mark (Lynne) Gorgchuck, Jim (Isabel) Gorgchuck, Joe (Carole) Gorgchuck, Joanne (Graham) Scott.  Her love and guidance shaped their lives, and her presence was a source of strength and joy.  She is also survived by her sister Mary Morrison (family) whom she treasured dearly.

Vera was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  She took immense pride in each of them, sharing stories, wisdom and unconditional love.

Vera was a woman of many passions.  She enjoyed bowling, quilting, baking and spending time outdoors tending to her flowers and vegetables.  Coffee time with her friends was a cherished tradition, filled with laughter and conversation.  She was also deeply dedicated to her community, volunteering countless hours at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre and Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where her kindness and generosity touched many lives.

Vera was predeceased by Peter, her beloved husband of 56 years, her siblings Nina, John, Hank, Fred and also her special Aunt, Antonia Kinar.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ilarion Residence and Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre for their compassionate care and support during Vera’s final years.

Though she will be deeply missed, Vera’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle humour, quick wit and the way she made everyone feel at home in her presence.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ilarion Residence or Sunnyside Adventist Care Center.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave. A Private Graveside Service will be held. Park Funeral Home, Saskatoon, SK. 306-244-2103, Wally Markewich Director.
