UNITY – The Unity Jr. Warriors football team played a solid game on Oct. 24, beating the Plenty Jr. Wildcats 48-8.
The champions went undefeated in their short season, playing only five games. Coach Daikota Tanner said the team played their hearts out all year.
“Our biggest strength is resilience. We played Plenty two weeks ago, beating them by a touchdown. We knew they were coming in for a final and our kids showed up,” he added.
Tanner said the Wildcats were their biggest competitors this season and were impressed with how they played in the championship game.
The Jr. Warriors will see six players move up to the senior high school team: Eric Niccolls, Ryden Hoffman, Tatum Ruberry, Kingston Meredith, Theo Wichman and Dryden O’Brian, while seven players from the flag division of the Unity Minor Football.
Tanner also said the number of kids joining football is greater than ever.
“We’ve got a huge squad coming in next year. At the end of the day, they’re just kids, but we are going to have plenty for next year.”
