Bennett Bretzer (no. 8), Walker Coleman (no. 10), Jinks Cooper (no. 26), Lucas Maze (no. 13) and Dane Rewerts (no. 27) return to the ice after exchanging high-fives with the bench, following a goal in a U15 first round provincial game against La Ronge Ice Wolves in Unity, Feb. 3.

Correction to last week’s report for the U15 Lazers – they were playing the Kindersley Klippers in the U15B northern semifinal, not the final. The Lazers played the Klippers in Eatonia March 1 and came home with a 7-1 win. Game 2 in Unity March 3 saw the visitors take the win, 6-4. The third game to decide the series was then played immediately. The Lazers won 1-0 to now advance to the northern final, where they will play the Hague Royals.

Kerrobert West Central Rage, in the U18 C northern semifinal, headed to Langian March 1, with one game in hand having defeated the Pirates at home Feb. 25, 5-0. The Pirates took their revenge in game 2, beating the Rage 3-1. Game 3 followed immediately and the Rage scored the only goal to win 1-0 and move on to the northern final.

Correction on the U18 Macklin Mohawks as well – their series against the Edam 3 Stars is the northern semifinal, not the final itself. After winning the first game 5-2 at home, the second game, and third if necessary, was postponed, and is now scheduled for March 5 in Edam. Results were not available in time for press deadlines.

Playing in U13 D provincials, the Kerrobert/Luseland Tigers faced the Dodsland Stars in the third round. The Stars came out the winners in the first game Feb. 29 in Kerrobert, with an 8-3 score. Game 2 was in Dodsland, originally scheduled for March 3 but postponed one day due to the March 2 snowstorm. The Stars won again, 8-5, to eliminate the Tigers from provincials.

The U18 Wilkie/Biggar National Outlaws almost, but not quite, made it to the northern final. They moved easily through the first two rounds, but then came up against the Aberdeen Flames in round three. The first game, in Biggar, Feb. 25, ended in a 4-4 tie. Game 2 in Aberdeen March 2 was close, but Aberdeen squeaked out a 4-3 win to eliminate the Biggar/Wilkie team.

The U15 Kerrobert Tigers also advanced directly to their northern semifinal and played in Lashburn Feb. 25, losing 7-1. Game 2, originally scheduled for March 2, was postponed and was played March 5 in Kerrobert, with results not available for press deadlines.

The U13C Lazers started their third-round series against the Hague Royals at home Feb. 24, with the game ending in a 3-3 tie. Game 2 was in Hague March 1. Despite leading the Royals 1-0 heading in the third period, the Lazers were unable to fend off an ultimate 2-1 victory for the Royals and are now out of provincials.

In girls’ provincial hockey, the U13A Western Prairie Wildcats beat the Warman Wildcats #2 team in two straight games, 3-1 in Macklin, and 4-0 in Warman. They now will play Warman Wildcats #1 to determine who advances to the provincial final. Game 1 is in Warman March 9 and Game 2 will be in Macklin, March 14.
