Northern final games in Unity, Kerrobert, Macklin this weekend

Minor hockey teams continue to fight for provincial titles.

KDL (Kerrobert/Dodsland/Luseland) Rage have made it to the U18C northern finals.

UNITY — The U15 Lazers travelled to Hague March 10 to take on the Royals in the first game of the U15B northern final. Hague won the game 5-2 so the Lazers are facing a must-win situation at home, March 17. The game goes at 5 p.m. in the Unity Community Centre and fans in the stands are always appreciated.

The Kerrobert KDL Rage were in Outlook March 11 for their first game of the U18C northern final, winning 5-3 and taking a series lead. Game 2 is in Kerrobert, March 14 at 8 p.m.

In U18D provincials, the Macklin Mohawks won a close second game, 5-4, against the Edam Three Stars March 5. The win advanced them to the northern final against the Delisle Bruins. Game 1 ended in a 2-2 tie, and game 2 is in Macklin March 16 at 5 p.m.

In girls’ provincial hockey, the U13A Western Prairie Wildcats are playing the Warman Wildcats No. 1 team to determine who advances to the provincial final. Game 1 in Warman March 9 ended with neither team finding the back of the net. Game 2 was in Macklin, March 14 but results were not available in time for press deadlines.

The U15 Kerrobert Tigers had advanced directly to their northern semifinal, where they took on Lashburn. They lost both games, 7-1 in Lashburn and 3-1 in Kerrobert, eliminating them from the U15C provincial competition.
