Junior volleyball district medals won

Battle West District junior volleyball championship results in medals for Unity and Wilkie teams

UNITY ‑ Volleyball season has come to a close for junior volleyball teams.

Unity Composite High School played host to Battle West District Championships and began their quest beating Wilkie in two sets, followed by a two-set win over Maymont. Their first defeat came at the hands of North Battleford Comprehensive High School, losing in two sets.

The junior Warriors then defeated John Paul II Collegiate to earn a spot to the final, once again facing NBCHS. However, this time there was no denying this team and their gold medal was earned in two sets. NBCHS were the silver medalists while JPII earned bronze.

The team includes coach Rhonda Gartner, Taelor Lawrence, Amaya Frocklage, Keanna Kelly, Mercedex Magnus, Jordis Zunti, Kierra Heitt, Casey Lewin, Shayna Wildeman, Jayce Brown, Avynne McLean, Kasey Parker and Hudsyn Winterhalt.

The junior boys' Warriors volleyball team didn’t have to travel far, as McLurg hosted this division of Battle West district championships. In a multiple-game day, the team was excited to earn a spot in the gold medal match, seeing improvement every game.

After defeating rivals, McLurg in the semifinal game, the Warriors faced John Paul II Collegiate. However, JPII brought their A game to the final and defeated the Warriors resulting in a silver medal for UCHS. The McLurg Broncs junior boys’ team were bronze medalists at this event.
