50 years ago, ribbon was cut to open the Wilkie Co-op鈥檚 new pharmacy

Unity business, Cinema Satellite, happily announced their move to a 10,000-plus square foot facility on Second Avenue.

Picket lines were up at the Sifto salt plant after conciliation efforts failed to bring about an agreement between the union and management. Union representatives – with Bob Burns, Ike Wagner and Ron Benson on their bargaining committee – were seeking an average 80¢ an hour increase over 24 months. Representing Domtar Chemicals were Serge Wagner of Montreal along with local management W. J. Rutledge, George Negraiff and Pat O’Donnell.

The West Central RM Association elected new officers, with Roy P. Carpenter of Phippen named president, Bill Warnock of Luseland vice-president and Ed A. Hoffart of Wilkie secretary-treasurer.

Former board chair Wm. McConnell, assisted by current chair Byron Hanson, cut the ribbon to open the Wilkie Co-op’s new pharmacy premises.

Battleford-Cut Knife 小蓝视频 Rudi Peters passed away from leukemia. Peters continued to work for the people of his constituency even during his illness, and the newspaper issue announcing his death also contained his last report from the legislature.

Wilkie midget players Quin Carberry and Adam Lorenz helped the senior Outlaws get to a 5-2 win over the Edam 3 Stars. Carberry scored twice while Lorenz picked up a couple of assists.

Manager Rus Prescott of Unity business Cinema Satellite was happy to announce a move from their “cramped” quarters on Main Street to a 10,000-plus square foot facility on Second Avenue.

CN Rail had poured the cement for construction of their new shop in Unity.
