Town of Wilkie welcomes three new employees

A new Public Works Manager, a new Assistant Administrator and a secretary have all joined the Town of Wilkie team.

WILKIE — The Town of Wilkie welcomes three new employees at their office that include new assistant administrator, Connor Piller who is replacing Sandra Beckett who officially retired Oct. 31 of this year.

The new Public Works manager is Bobby MacCuish who is replacing Blair Winterhalt who earlier decided to take a step back from the management role. New secretary, Linda Nicholetts, was hired to fill in at the office whenever the need arises.

Nicholetts tells the Press-Herald, “My husband and I moved from North Battleford to Wilkie in 2020. I was retired, but previously spent 19 years in a law office. Outside of work, I enjoy crocheting, baking, a little gardening and spending time with kids and grandkids.”

Piller has a Bachelor of Science in Combined Statistics and Economics from the University of Regina, as well as a Master of Public Administration from the University of Saskatchewan and says he feels truly fortunate to have been offered the assistant administrator position with the Town of Wilkie.

Pillar says, “I was born and raised in Regina and lived there until I was 26. I moved to Saskatoon for school and moved to Wilkie upon position acceptance in August of 2022.”

Piller says in his undergraduate years he delivered lumber and building materials in Regine and while at USask, he delivered furniture for Ashley’s Home Stores.

“Most of my free time is divided between playing guitar or reading. My family and I like to fish and golf in the summer. In the winter we will often play three-spot (Kaiser) or cribbage,” adds Piller.

Wilkie’s new Public Works manager says he has lived in Wilkie for five years and lived in Marengo for two prior to that. MacCuish was born and raised in LeRoy, Sask.

“I was previously employed by Grains Connect Canada which is what brought me to Wilkie. I’ve spent the last 13 years in the agriculture sector,” says MacCuish.

MacCuish adds, “My kids and I love spending time outside and at the lake. We enjoy all four seasons. My kids both play hockey and I coach hockey as well. We love to snowmobile and hunt as well.”

The community welcomes these new members of the town of Wilkie team.
