BATTLEFORDS ‑ The Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League had a full slate of seven games from Friday to Sunday.
Results from Friday saw Meota hammer Turtleford 7-2 in North Battleford, Radisson over Battleford 5-4 in Radisson and Maidstone winning 6-5 at Maymont. Saturday scores saw Turtleford beat Spiritwood 8-2 and Perdue over Maymont 8-3. Sunday scores saw Radisson beat Spiritwood 10-7 and Maidstone over Perdue 5-3.
League standings currently have Meota on top of the league with an 11-0 record. Tied for second are the Battleford Beaver Blues and Turtleford Tigers with 7-2-0-1 records, followed by Radisson, Maidstone, Maymont, Perdue and Spiritwood, with the latter two with only two wins each.
In action in U18 AAA male hockey, the Battlefords Stars split a pair of games on the road versus the Estevan Bears. On Saturday in Radville for Hockey Day in Saskatchewan, the Stars fell 5-4 to the Bears, but the club bounced back with a 7-6 win Sunday in Estevan. The next scheduled game for the Stars is Tuesday in Saskatoon at Merlis Belsher Place against the Contacts.
In U18 AA action the North West Stars got a 5-1 win in Warman Saturday, but their game Sunday in Saskatoon against the Saskatoon Bandits was postponed. Next on the schedule is a game in Prince Albert Friday, then against the North East Wolfpack Saturday in Tisdale.
The Battlefords AAA Sharks last action was Thursday night at home versus Saskatoon, with the Stars beating the Sharks 6-3. In that game the Sharks got a power play goal from Cassidy Peters and two from Brooklyn Salewski, one of which was also a power play goal. Next on the schedule are two games versus Notre Dame at Duncan McNeill Arena.
