One of the men accused in the recent Riverview home invasion in May has pleaded guilty in North Battleford provincial court.
William Paules pleaded guilty to break and enter and disguise with intent. Another charge of assault with a weapon was dropped.
He was sentenced to five years in a federal penitentiary and a 10-year firearms prohibition was ordered.
The incident took place May 28 around 10:30 p.m. According to the RCMP, armed assailants entered a residence in Riverview Heights and attacked a male and female. Both were sent to hospital where they were treated and released.
A coaccused, Chris Thunderblanket, will see his case return to court June 29.
As well, the sentencing hearing for one of the men who pled guilty to a Jan. 21 armed robbery at the Queen's Hotel in Battleford took place in provincial court.
Carter Night, 22, was in court Wednesday for the sentencing hearing, in which details of the attack were presented. A victim impact statement from the female employee who was attacked that night was entered, and surveillance video showing the robbery was also presented.
Night, who had pled guilty to robbery and other related charges at an earlier appearance, also expressed remorse for his actions. He was one of six people accused of taking part in the robbery at the hotel that night.
A final decision on Night's sentence has been adjourned to June 29.
