Altercation between Meadow Lake care home residents ends in death

No charges have been laid and investigators do not believe there is a risk to public safety.

MEADOW LAKE — Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a death at a care home after an altercation between two residents.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Dec. 27, Meadow Lake RCMP responded to a report of a deceased male at a continuing care home in Meadow Lake. Initial investigation has determined an altercation occurred between two residents at the home. Staff located one of them, a 78-year-old male, injured. While staff assisted, the male went into medical distress. He was pronounced deceased by EMS. His family has been notified and Victim Services offered to them.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate the circumstances of this sudden death and an autopsy on the deceased male is scheduled for the coming days. No charges have been laid and investigators do not believe there is a risk to public safety.
