Centre activities slow down for the holidays

The Maidstone Drop In Centre monthly meeting was held Dec. 2 with 12 members present. A number of activities at the centre will be curtailed over the holidays. Morning exercises will commence again Jan 9 at 9 a.m.

If I have a choice when I get older and need to go into a personal care home the Oasis Personal Care Home is where I'd like to be. Dec. 18, Delbert and Shelia Millar hosted a Christmas party for the residents and their families.

School hosts Christmas Bingo

The Marsden Jubilee School Christmas Concert was held Dec. 16 in the Marsden Community Hall. Marsden School held a Christmas Bingo Dec. 21. They gave away food hampers, as well as various other prizes. The winner of the blackout received a turkey.

The Speers Recreation Hall was host to their annual Christmas jam Dec. 16. Donations were taken at the door with people entering their name for a chance to win door prizes. The jam began at 2 p.m.

The seniors enjoyed a superb meal served by Dawn Gray and her staff at the Maymont Hotel. Before supper they had a meeting in the afternoon and after supper they went back to the seniors' centre where they enjoyed Christmas carols.

Hafford Central School played host to budding stars and starlets Dec. 16. Children dressed in holiday finery gave performances on stage that filled the night air with joy and laughter. About 300 people packed the gym to hear some great performances.

Remembering a loved one during the Christmas season can be lonely. Hafford Gospel Church held a Candle light vigil Dec. 11. People came together to reflect on lives lived without having to be alone during this time.

Senior supper enjoyed

Lil McMillan was to Edmonton for an eye appointment. Her daughters, Della and Darlene, took her there. Lil was saying the roads were like summer. No snow.
