School spirit is an important aspect of John Paul II, and the Student Representative Council (SRC) is an organization of John Paul II students and staff who plan the spirit activities.

The Gold Eagle Casino has announced that some major country music stars will be performing at the Gold Ridge Centre in May. Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis are scheduled to perform May 6.

Rivers' Edge Quilters held their March 2 meeting with 21 members present. The Mystery Quilt weekend was enjoyed by eight members participating and other members sewing on UFOs.

The March meeting of the Maidstone Legion Ladies' Auxiliary was held Tuesday evening in the Legion Hall with seven members present. The soup and sandwich lunch served at the Legion bowling went well.

The last years In 1971, a new company acquired possession of the Sallows & Boyd. The main floor was subsequently renovated to accommodate the Mighty Mart Discount Centre, which conducted its business until 1976.

School is a place to learn about life as well as the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. Many of the students at Maidstone High School are part of the school's SADD chapter.

Spring is on its way and the galleries continue to be busy with a range of activities. The Chapel Gallery is hosting a number of workshops in the coming months.

The upcoming week signals that start of the end for our basketball season. This weekend our senior boys will be hosting conferences.

I'm back from two glorious weeks at Mesa, Ariz. where I was a guest of Joan Smith with Margaret Huard and Margaret Lukey. The weather was just great and the hospitality was, too. The Swap Meet and Market Place and the desert were amazing.

It's hard to believe we are already approaching the final week of this year's Battleford Kiwanis Music Festival. Six incredible days of vocal sessions, including four fun-filled evenings of musical theatre, come to a close Friday, March 15.
