CODETTE - Update, March 24, 3:08 p.m.: On March 23, Nipawin RCMP were making proactive patrols and located a wanted male, Reginald Nawakayas, in Nipawin.
He was arrested at the scene on his outstanding warrant in relation to two break and enters that occurred on Feb. 18.
During the arrest, officers located and seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
Nawakayas was additionally charged with:
- two counts, possession a firearm/ammunition when prohibited;
- one count, possession of a concealed weapon;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, careless use of a firearm;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
- one count, fail to comply with probation order.
Nawakayas appeared in court in Nipawin on March 24.
Original post, March 14, 8:59 a.m.: Three people have been charged following post office break ins in Saskatchewan.
On Feb. 18 at approximately 9:05 a.m., Nipawin RCMP received a report of a break and enter at the post office in Codette.
Investigation determined that around 5 a.m. on Feb. 18, unknown individual(s) broke into the post office, damaging a door and stealing over 20 packages.
Later in the morning of Feb. 18, Nipawin RCMP received a report of a second break and enter that occurred overnight at the post office in Love, SK.
The investigation determined that unknown individual(s) broke into the post office sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, stealing an unknown number of packages, mail and a safe.
Nipawin RCMP continued to investigate.
As a result of continued investigation, an adult female was arrested in Cumberland House on Feb. 23.
On March 9, Nipawin and Cumberland House RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Cumberland House. A male was arrested at the scene.
Ashley Dayton, 31, from Nipawin, 36-year-old William Fosseneuve, from Cumberland House, and 24-year-old Reginald Nawakayas, from Nipawin, are each charged with:
- two counts, break and enter;
- two counts, steal parcels sent by post;
- one count, theft over $5,000;
- two counts, theft under $5,000; and
- two counts, mischief under $5,000.
Ashley Dayton appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on March 12. William Fosseneuve appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on March 13.
Reginald Nawakayas is also charged with one count, fail to comply with probation order.
A warrant has been issued for Reginald Nawakayas’s arrest. Nipawin RCMP continue to work to locate and arrest Nawakayas and ask members of the public to report all sightings and information about his whereabouts.
Nawakayas is described as approximately 5'11" tall and 250 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair. A photo of him is shown.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate.
