BIG RIVER FIRST NATION - Big River RCMP are asking for the public's help following a report of a shooting.
On Aug. 25 at approximately 7:50 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of a man with a gunshot wound injury on Big River First Nation.
Officers responded and located the injured man at a home on Big River First Nation. He was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.
Investigation determined the man and two other individuals were walking on Highway 793 when a grey SUV drove past and a firearm was discharged from it. One of the rounds hit the man.
In a separate incident, on the evening of Aug. 25, officers received a report that bear mace had been deployed on Big Loop Road on Big River First Nation. Investigation determined a grey SUV drove by and unknown individual(s) deployed the bear mace from it. A woman was assessed by EMS for injuries described as non-life threatening.
It is believed the grey SUV in these incidents is the same.
Big River RCMP continue to investigate.
